Common questions about my scrapbooking and card design services...
1) Why should I purchase a custom scrapbook?
Your photos are currently disorganized and you want to have something to show for them. You love the look of a scrapbook but don’t’ have any time to create one. You want to make sure they will be stored in an archival safe way.
2) What is the process of working with a custom scrapbook designer?
First we will have a phone or email consultation where we can discuss the photos you are interested in scraping and any preferences you have for the designs. You will then receive a contract that will be required along with a 50% deposit for me to begin working on your custom made scrapbook pages. I will email you photos of pages as they are completed so you can see the progress. Once the pages are complete the final payment will be due before the pages will be shipped.
3) I have years of photos, how do I decide where to start?
I suggest starting two albums, one for this year and one for the oldest of your photos. Grab your photos from the past year and start an album that you can add new pages to every few months. Once you have that album in place you can than go back to the beginning of your photos and create an older album. By doing it this way you won’t have that feeling never being able to catch up to your current photos.
4) How long does it take to complete an album?
During the initial consultation, we determine a timeframe and specific deadline together. The length of time before completion depends on the size of the project.
A 20-page, 12x12 album will usually take between three and six weeks, depending on the complexity of the design style. I'll make every effort to accommodate your timing needs.
5) How much does a complete scrapbook cost?
The fee is currently $20 per page layout. However, for albums with more than 10 pages the fee drops per page. See rates page for complete details.
6) What is a page layout?
A page layout refers to two side-by-side pages (a left page and a right page) that typically have pictures relating to a single event. Most scrapbooks have a beginning single page followed by a series of page layouts then ending with a single page
7) What if I’m not happy with the final product?
I will email you pictures of the pages as I complete them. That way, if there is something you don’t like, I can redo the page until we get it right.
8) How do I get you my photos and memorabilia?
Whatever way is easiest for you. You can give me your photos and memorabilia via email, mail or a photo sharing website. My preference is a single email for each set of photos. This way you can easily include the basic who/what/when/where and any journaling along with the set of photos.
9) Can you include my journaling on the pages?
Yes, it is great to write up your own journaling for your pages. I will print your journaling and incorporate it into the page. I can also provide you a journaling spot for you to handwrite your journaling after you receive your album if you'd prefer.
10) How many photos can fit on a page?
Anywhere from 1-6 on a single page layout and up to 15 on a double page layout. Sometimes you have many photos you want to include. This can be done by
reducing the size of several of the photos.
11) Will you alter the photos that you use?
Unless you specifically request for me not to, I may crop, adjust, convert to black and white and remove red eye to help make the photos look great in the layout. For this reason it is best for you to keep and original copy of any non-digital photos.
12) What if I don’t want a picture permanently mounted?
No problem! During the initial consultation, we discuss which pictures are to be permanently mounted. Most scrapbooking adhesives are intended to permanently mount your photos. However, there are many options for not permanently mounting, such as photo corners, corner punches, and repositionable adhesives. It is recommended that most pictures be permanently mounted. That is the purpose of a scrapbook – to be a safe, permanent home for your photos. However, you may have a one-of-a-kind original that you do not want mounted. In such a case, you could either have a copy made to mount permanently in the album, or have the original mounted via a non-permanent method in the album.
13) If I want you to use some products I already purchased can you do that?
Yes just send them to me and I can fit them into the page.
14) What if I don’t live in or near the Sacramento area?
No problem! We can correspond by email, telephone and/or regular mail throughout the entire process. I recommend using a mail service through which shipments can be insured and tracked. This helps guarantee the safety of your photos.
15) What form of payments do you accept?
Currently I can only accept PayPal and bill me later. If your close I will also take cash.
